Colorado communication coach, career coach, strategic planning facilitator, keynote speaker near Denver and Colorado Springs

Struggling to communicate who you are, what you've done and what you can do for others?

Communication is never just business - it's always personal! Perhaps we can help...

Looking for an experienced career coach in Colorado, near Denver and Colorado Springs?

Struggling to decide what you want to be when you grow up? Surprised by a layoff or pending acquisition? Want rewarding work during "retirement", or hope to find a better job fit, learn how to market yourself, change careers or negotiate better offers?

Hi, I'm Laura Benjamin. I have coached hundreds of career changers, early "retirees" and job seekers including displaced managers, burned out executives, recent college graduates and separating or retiring military professionals.

I've served on Outplacement Teams contracted to work with downsized employees, conducted numerous job search workshops, spoken for Executive Networking groups in Workforce Centers and worked with those who were just bored with their work and wanted a change.

Perhaps you face one of the following changes, transitions or "opportunities":

  • You are anxious to "retire" but don't plan to stop working. You'll soon be free to do what you really WANT to do, but you're not quite sure what that is or how to get started.
  • Your company has been acquired or plans to relocate. You know it's only a matter of time before your position is eliminated or outsourced.
  • It's time for a change. You fell into your present career and now realize life is passing you by, you're bored and you want some new challenges.
  • You're a recent grad who needs some help kick-starting the job search process; someone to help you climb the learning curve quickly and effectively.
  • Maybe you're getting interviews but no offers and you're wondering what's up. You sense it's probably time to get an objective opinion and help you fix whatever's getting in your way.

Here's how I may be able to help you...

  • create "user-friendly" marketing strategies
  • develop and quantify your Master List of Accomplishments
  • identify your personality style and preferred workplace culture
  • analyze expressed or unconscious workplace expectations
  • offer diplomatic yet "straight talk" feedback to help you overcome obstacles
  • provide practice interview sessions (via phone or video) so you can see what's working and what needs improvement
  • strategize a marketing campaign to help you get faster results
  • provide encouragement, especially on the "dark days"
  • serve as an "Accountability Partner" to help you stay on track

How I work with clients, step-by-step:

Step 1. Please call me at 719-266-8088 to schedule a phone conversation. We will discuss your present situation, your goals and how I may be able to help you.

Step 2. From the list below, select the areas you feel are most important to help you achieve those goals.

  • Resume rewrite
  • Define interests/talents
  • Online assessments
  • Interview preparation
  • Networking strategies
  • Confidence skill building
  • Mock interviews (telephone/recorded and/or videotaped)
  • Salary/benefits negotiation
  • Organizational culture
  • Leadership/management style
  • Speech/expression
  • Personal image, characteristics
  • Follow-up strategies
  • Exit strategies (so you don't burn bridges)
  • Emotional support during "the dark days"
  • Other: anything else that is important to you

Step 3. You pick the coaching structure that works best for you. To do this, please consider the following questions:

  • What time investment would you like to make in this process? Do you prefer a package of 4, 7 or 10 coaching sessions, weekly, every other week or as schedules allow?
  • Do you prefer telephone-based, in-person sessions, webcam or some of each? Obviously, out of area client sessions are telephone-based or webcam supported.
  • What financial investment are you able to make in your career or pursuit of your life's work? Whether you are shouldering the investment yourself or using an employer-sponsored benefit, please know that I strive to work with folks in a way that makes it possible for them to achieve their goals. (Visa or MasterCard also welcome)
  • OR, do you prefer to work on an "ad hoc" basis? You call me when you need support and your investment is based on an hourly rate rather than a package.

That's about all there is to it! Send me a note or call me at 719-266-8088 when you're ready. We'll chat to see how I'm able to assist you and then we can go from there!

Best regards,

Laura

WHAT CLIENTS SAY:

"Laura, I truly appreciate your time and especially your insight. You've lead me to see circumstances more clearly and you've helped me take back my rightful self-confidence. You have a gift for shining a light on the possibilities.

I'm ready to step out of the shadows. I do have something unique to offer and I'm excited about positioning myself to invest my energy, experience and expertise in "the 5%" - the work that calls to me.

I'm looking forward to our further progress. Thanks so much. If ever you have occasion to need a reference or wish to quote a comment on the effectiveness of your work, you have my permission and my
encouragement to do so." (Confidential)

"Things definitely turned around for Vince once you started working with him! He got that job with Halliburton and couldn't be happier." (Bill Viott, father of recent college grad, 2007)

"You have really found your niche!  I'm so glad I found you! Man, YOU ROCK!" (Angie B., IT professional, 2007)

"So much of a job campaign is beyond resumes, cover letters and interview techniques, but also must include attitudes, self confidence and a personal belief that you can make the change to which you are striving for. It is in this larger area that Laura has been so much of a help to me. She has always been upbeat, friendly, helpful, a patient teacher and a great resource, as well as an encouragement and a listening ear." Dave O.

"I must drop you a note to let you know how pleased I am with my new job. Yes, you heard right! I finally have a job, a good job, it's even a career position with a non-profit agency!! I want to thank you personally for your help in getting this position. It is because of your continued support that I have been able to make this very difficult transition...I really owe you for all you have done for me in my search for a new career." Dave O.

"I want to thank you for all your efforts in helping me relocate my career to Colorado Springs. Moving my family to another state has been a big decision for me and it has really been helpful to talk with someone who is familiar to the area. Since my initial contact, I have been impressed with the professionalism, friendliness and enthusiasm displayed through all stages of my career search. Not only did you spend hours teaching me the skills I needed to find a good career, but you also have gone out of your way to accommodate my needs and I really appreciate it.

Your unflagging optimism and enthusiasm is a great motivator when the searching starts to get a little tiring or my confidence starts to fade. You also do a lot of little things that have really made a difference...I can really tell you care about me and my struggles in searching for a new position...if I ever decide to look for another career in the future, I am sure I will have the skills necessary to make the search as successful as it can be and I would be happy to be a refence for you!"
