You Aren't the Boss of Me! How to Achieve Constructive Outcomes and Manage Conflict

Conflict is the single most frequently cited reason for marginal productivity, employee turnover, lost sales and litigation. Yet, it is a very predictable reality in any organization, agency or organization where there are limited resources and opposing objectives. Some believe there is a “one size fits all” approach to successful conflict management, yet research has found that one method is not always appropriate as circumstances change from one event to another. Conflict resolution cannot be addressed with simple prescriptions.

This highly interactive, in-depth session builds on personalized data to identify predictive behaviors that lead to either constructive or destructive outcomes. Rather than evaluate one's "style", this program helps a person analyze and evaluate how they handled historical experiences to now build a broader repertoire of strategies for the future.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this program, participants will have learned to:

  • Analyze 10 conflict behavioral scales
  • Identify top 4 predictors of constructive outcomes
  • Uncover conflict-related assumptions that derail communication
  • Measure real-life conflicts against a behavioral effectiveness grid
  • Increase awareness of key conflict choices and traits
  • Establish behavioral goals and objectives
  • Apply a 5-step strategy to create alternative solutions

Optional Pre-work: Participants may complete the online DiSC® Behavioral Style Assessment and/or ConflictLens™ Instrument prior to the workshop. Confidential, personalized results are then used as the basis for class interaction and customized learning.
