Send a Bible to a U.S. active duty soldier for free courtesy of the International Bible Society (Submitted by Janet Cetani, USA Western Territory, Salvation Army) For Colorado residents, support Homefront Cares Inc., a volunteer, not-for-profit organization founded in 2003 to support Colorado's military families of all services. Send a donation to the Patriot Guard. They greet soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and are often invited guests of families at the funerals of fallen soldiers. (NOTE: They also formed a protective barrier with their motorcycles to insulate grieving families from protester harassment.) Regarding letters or packages addressed to "any wounded soldier" or "any service member" Walter Reed Army Medical Center cannot accept packages, letters or cards addressed to 'Any Wounded Soldier' or 'A Recovering American Soldier'. This decision was made to ensure the safety and well being of patients and staff at medical centers throughout the Department of Defense. |
IT IS THE SOLDIER "It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press." "It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech." "It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us freedom to demonstrate." "It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag." (Author Unknown)
Seen on a bumper sticker: "If you don't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them!"
